Steven Chavez is an L.A.-based landscape architect and photographer who holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Washington and a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Ulster University.
Steven was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, California. In his late teens and early twenties he worked as an automotive customizer for the custom car artist Gene Winfield. Steven moved to Seattle, Washington in his late twenties to study landscape architecture at the University of Washington and work as an artist assistant with encaustic painter Betsy Eby. Chavez then trained as a landscape architect under the tutelage of landscape architects Gustafson Guthrie Nichol in Seattle. Since 2009, Steven has run his own landscape architecture practice, Steven Chavez Landscape Architecture (SCLA).
Steven's photography stems from a long-standing interest in art, architecture and design and has recently adopted a focus on photographing the everyday landscapes of the San Fernando Valley.
